ABOUT OQC
At Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC) we are building quantum computers to enable life-changing discoveries: from new drug modelisation to longer-lasting battery technology and portfolio optimisation. We have launched Europe’s first Quantum Computing as a Service (QCaaS) – to bring quantum to our customers’ fingertips and help them improve their operations and trailblaze new commercial and scientific approaches. Our team is composed of 40 people with various backgrounds in quantum physics, nanotechnologies, hardware, software and business operations from marketing to intellectual property. We are all bound by the desire to put OQC at the forefront of the quantum revolution and help solve some of the world’s most challenging problems.
ROLE OVERVIEW
As a Systems Integration Engineer at OQC, you will bring together the various components vital for controlling a quantum computer, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and functions together. This includes designing pieces of software that control specific instruments, the subsequent integration of these instruments into the full-stack of our control system. Improving the control system, by solving automation problems, optimizing characterisation and benchmarking processes to assess and improve the overall Quantum Computer performance. Here, you will be required to work closely on multiple and varied projects. These will be within our multi-disciplinary teams of physicists, nanotechnologists, electrical engineers, software developers, and more towards OQC’s mission of building quantum computers to solve some of the world’s most challenging problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designing a robust, scalable, deployable control system that connects all the subsystems required for a fully functional quantum computer (software, control hardware, quantum processors)
- Work closely within the Quantum Systems team to improve characterisation & benchmarking capabilities of quantum processors
- Making sure that the software stack is capable of communication with various hardware by using standard communication protocols and writing low-level drivers
- Solving automation problems, both from control and testing perspectives
- Work closely with our software, classical hardware and quantum teams to assure a smooth integration of all the components
REMUNERATION
£50,000 – 60,000 pa., based on experience. We also offer multiple benefits, from private medical insurance to Employee Assistance Cash Plan, from cycle to work to gym and fitness memberships. All our employees also participate in our ESOP. For more info, visit https://apply.workable.com/oqc/
