Lab Manager

Full TimeParis, FranceC12 Quantum Electronics

C12 develops reliable & application-specific quantum computers, to solve highly complex computing tasks, currently out of reach of even most powerful supercomputers.

Building a quantum computer still needs innovators ready to tackle exciting challenges. C12 founders are convinced that only a new material for the qubit will bring a technological breakthrough.

C12 uniquely uses carbon nanotubes as the fundamental building blocks of its quantum processor. This high-purity material minimizes errors, radically improves performance and reduces hardware overhead for fault-tolerant computing. Combined with well-established semiconductor techniques, carbon nanotubes will help scale quantum computing, just as silicon revolutionized classical computing.

Founded in 2020, C12 Quantum Electronics is a fast-growing start-up, having raised a seed round of USD 10 million in June 2021 and building its own lab space in the center of Paris (Panthéon).

Your role in C12 Quantum Electronics

You’ll be responsible for maintaining all our in-house labs (350m2), including one nanofabrication cleanroom (e-beam, SEM, ICP-RIE, UHV evaporator…), a CVD growth lab, an optics lab, a prototyping workshop (soldering, 3D printing), and a nano-assembly lab.

  • Ensure daily operation of all equipment and perform technical interventions, like high-pressure gas bottle replacement
  • Act as a liaison between staff and external stakeholders. Troubleshoot and coordinate with vendors for equipment services and repair in the event of equipment malfunction, minimizing downtime
  • Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program for the equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
  • Monitor inventories and order supplies as necessary (personal protective equipment, gas, chemicals, mechanical and electrical components, consumables and other products needed in the labs) as well as supervise the chemical waste removal
  • Update the lab safety plan and safety data sheets as necessary with respect to hazardous materials, records of inspection, and safety procedures. Schedule safety training for team members; enforce policies around personal protective equipment to ensure that the clean room facility complies with the safety standards, local environmental safety standards, and appropriate quality assurance standards
  • Ensure that all team members have been trained to use laboratory equipment, software, and supplies safely and efficiently
  • Stay up-to-date with technology development and suggest purchase of new equipment, negotiate technical specifications and price for new instruments purchase and supervise the installation of the instruments
About you
  • 5+ years’ experience of cleanroom operation and management, tool maintenance and HVAC are required
  • Degree in and/or experience with gases, cryogenics, vacuum and chemicals or fabrication lab
  • Experience with semiconductor clean room ISO level 7 or 8  is seen as an advantage
  • Good English and French level
